Terrorist group Fatah Al-Islam says its leader has been killed in Damascus.
The organisation was involved in a war with the Lebanese army in Tripoli last year. It was also accused of a number of car bombings in Beirut.
Their leader Shaker Al-Abssi was jailed in Syria many years ago. After his release he fled to Lebanon.
Now, it seems, he made it back into Syria – possibly during the fighting in Lebanon last year.
But the interesting thing is where he was killed – the southern suburb of Jaramana. That’s where a car bomb killed seventeen people two months ago.
The group says he was killed in an ambush by Syrian security forces.

Whoa…how was he killed? Haven’t heard about any of this in my hood – but I did just get back from Halab. Jeramana seems like a weird place for the leader of a Sunni takfiri group to be – it’s heavily non-Muslim.
