Biggest aid convoy to Gaza leaves Damascus – and Red Crescent protest

January 13th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

3191719387_3788c2250eRed Crescent volunteers have marched in a silent protest in Damascus. They took an official protest note to the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross) office, about Israel’s daily breaches of international law.

They also continued their vital aid work, which is having a direct impact on the people of Gaza. The biggest convoy yet is being sent – it consists of 38 trucks (1000 tonnes). That is around four times as big as the previous ones – it could even be the biggest aid convoy to leave Damascus in the city’s long history.

These shipments are paid for by donations. If you want to give some money, you can pay in any currency. Pay it to: the Syrian Commercial Bank, Damascus Branch, Branch no. 7, Account number 307/111.

(Thanks again to Anas for all of this, and for his incredible work. Photos from the Syrian Red Crescent.)
