March 29th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Politics, Travel

The family of a Canadian girl who went missing in Syria two years ago are offering a 2 million Syrian Pound reward ($40,000).

The offer has been extended until 31 March, and will be given to anyone who gives information which helps locate their daughter.

Nicole Vienneau went missing on 31 March 2007. Her father wrote to me as they searched. She was last seen by staff at the Cairo Hotel in Hama. She never returned, and hasn’t been seen since.

Today, Nicole’s mother is in Damascus, interviewing a possible suspect.

My cousin and his friend died in an apartment fire yesterday morning in Damascus. The whole family is upset about, including myself. I was wondering if you read about it, and have any news sources about the story that I can see. If you can find something, I would appreciate it. His name is Wassim. I can’t believe he’s gone… It feels like just yesterday he was showing me around Old Damascus…
