Syria has six new ministers tonight – including, for the first time, a Minister of the Environment. And it’s a woman – Kawkab As Sabah Dayeh.
Ten ministers – including PM Naji Otri – have just returned from a landmark trip to Iraq.
Saeed Samur is the new interior minister, replacing General Bassem Abdel Majed, who took up the role three years ago. Samur is a top level intelligence chief.
Judge Ahmed Yunis becomes justice minister.
The new health minister is Rida Saeed, who is an ophthalmologist like President Bashar Al-Assad.
Tamer al-Hijeh, a former governor of Aleppo, becomes the new minister for local administration.
And Mansur Azzam has been named Presidential Affairs Minister.
