4 dead after police clash with protesters near Damascus

It was in a demonstration at demolitions of 71 unsafe houses.

The local governor Zahed Haj Mussa said a number of police and protesters were hurt – 2 are critically ill in hospital.

It happened as police guarded workers who were taking down the properties.

It follows the collapse of a number of houses in the past few years, which have resulted in the deaths of many residents.

    I think the houses were built illegally without planning consent, that’s why they are or were supposed to be demolished.
    Still i dont think the authorities had the right to demolition the houses with out notifying the residents before hand… were the residents notified atleast a year before the houses were to be demolished?

    it is good to see something is done about them houses, they are unsafe, and they make damascus look bad
