As part of the British Council’s ongoing 75th birthday celebrations, a series of photography events are taking place in Aleppo.
There will be a lecture by the Senior Curator of Photography at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The V&A is one of London’s most prestigious museums. It was also the museum which donated some pieces for a landmark exhibition at Khan As’ad Pasha in Damascus last year.
There is also a photography competition called the Chain of Years. 75 amateur and professionals were invited to take part, and were each assigned an ‘age’. Their task was then to take a photo of a Syrian with that age. The winner will get a photography trip to the UK.
You can see the entries at the Carlton Hotel in Aleppo from 10-22 October from 4pm – 9pm.
The events in Aleppo follow other celebrations in Damascus earlier this year.
