This is an incredible collection of black and white images from Syria over the past 150 years from Camille Alexandre Otrakji.
The second part will be posted next Friday, and you can see the full set here
There’s a water fountain from 1910, Aleppo’s Umayed Mosque in 1916, a portrait of the first American ambassador to Syria, taken in 1859, a bread seller in Damascus in 1910 and Bab Kisan in 1872.
I’ll post another 5 images next week.
This is part of Alex’s family collection of historic photographs from the Middle East.
