Around 200 Syrian and Lebanese students have been caught up in a fight in Beirut.
It happened earlier this week at the Lebanese University after Syria’s Consul in Beirut, Ghassan Anjarini, visited the campus to talk about – ironically – tension between Syrian and Lebanese students.
Some of the Syrians are pointing the finger at Amal-supporting Lebanese youngsters.
The Daily Star quotes a couple of anonymous students saying Amal-supporters regularly get into fights at the LU, either with each other, with Hizbollah supporters, or with Syrians. Others blamed the Syrians for starting the fight.
Following the incident, a handful of Syrian students demonstrated outside the Syrian embassy in Hamra, complaining of discrimination.
